Technology is usually defined as the set of man-made tools, as the efficient means to an end, or as the set of material artifacts. But technology also contains instrumental practices, such as the creation, manufacture, and use of media and machines; includes the material and non-material set of technical facts; it is intimately connected with the institutionalized needs and intended purposes for which the technologies serve.

The author presents technology as a form of culture, which in turn corresponds to a certain level of development of the human. Following the history of the development of tools, the moment comes when the differentiation between nature and technology appears, giving rise to technological products.
